Today marks my two-and-a-half-week anniversary of coming back to New York. This means that I’ve had sixteen days to contemplate my bucket list (ie all the things I want to do in my year off). Obviously, considering my general compulsion and deep obsession with list-making I’ve started to number off the things I’m planning to do.
The good news? The list is only two things long!
The bad news? Well, you can see the two things below:
Right. Soo, not the coolest bucket list (and possibly I don’t really understand what a bucket list is), but it’s mine and I like it. How am I doing with these things? You are dying to know!
Here’s the thing, guys. Research shows it’s important to focus on the positive. Embrace the process. Enjoy the journey. Just keep swimming.
You get the idea. So, let’s just focus on what I have done so far. (Yes, another list. See above.)
What I’ve Done So Far
1.First things first, I filed my taxes (this is related to nothing above but deeply satisfying on a personal level. Calm down, I had an extension.)
2. Bought enough books to start a small library. (Whatever, It’s research! Also, so far I’ve read and LOVED the following: Fiction: The Great Alone, The Banker’s Wife, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Leavers, Today Will Be Different, When Life Gives You Lululemons. Nonfiction: Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?, Yes We (still) Can. I’ve been on a big Obama thing. Who hasn’t?)
3.“Started” a character development writing class. (In fact, this is my obligatory procrastination blog post.)
4.Talked to TWO very nice (published author) friends about my writing.
5.Sorted through four months of mail (see number 1)
6. Filmed SIXTY-FOUR science classes (Sublist for this-turned my childhood bedroom into a recording studio. Also, learned how to use several very relevant “filming apps”)
7. Started a youtube channel (Okay, so I got a little carried away with the filming stuff)
8. Did all this back-end nonsense that no one wants to hear about to upload my classes to a subscription website called Lernsys.
9. Instagram. (see related post here)
10. Taken some very nice pictures of New York, if I do say so myself (See below).
See? Obviously, number 10 makes the whole thing very fun and “bucket-list-y” (as opposed to “obsessive-work-list-y”). I also have a moderate level of ambition towards going sailing in the Hudson River.
We’ll see….
