More Monday Ideas

The beginning of the week always fills me with what I like to call Monday Ideas. (See evidence here and here)

On this very special, post-Oscar Monday, I was inspired by Lady Gaga’s acceptance speech (there is normal-level Lady Gaga inspiration and then there is Oscars-level Lady Gaga inspiration, you know?) to come up with some fabulous, business-possible Monday-level ideas.

If you have a dream, fight for it, they say.

Monday Idea 1: Post-Oscar Pop Up Movie Theater.

The only film I saw that was even mentioned in the Oscars this year (besides Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure) was Free Solo. It was stunning and everyone should go see it immediately. But that’s not the point. The POINT is, now that I have fallen completely, undeniably in love with Olivia Coleman (who hasn’t?) and I witnessed the Lady-Bradley-Gaga-Cooper-thirty-million-dollar-necklace duet–I’m dying to see the other movies! Let’s open a theater that plays the ones that win awards. One of those cool theaters where you can buy craft beer and kung pao cauliflower. People would go!

Monday Idea 2: Custom Ear Plugs

Now that I am done with the Oscars (aka three hours a year I pretend to be cool and know about pop culture stuff) let’s talk about my real love.

Earplugs.

I am a ‘work-in-pin-drop-silence’ kind of a girl. When I used to share an office, I starting wearing earplugs to throw off that adorable, ‘I-can’t-hear-you-please-don’t-talk-to-me’ vibe. Now, even when I go to the LIBRARY to write, I wear earplugs. (I mean, some people just breathe. so. loud.) There is a long way to go in the ear plug market. I think if we (and by ‘we’ I mean ‘someone else, possible on Shark Tank‘) did the custom earplug thing, where they could match your outfit or your shoes–it would totally catch on. Like nikelab or that fabulous Build-a-Muppet thing they used to have at FAO Schwarz.

Monday Idea 3: ‘What was that building?’ App

Mentioning FAO Schwarz (which, by the way, is back!), here is an app I think would be super popular. It is called the ‘What was that building?’ app. It will tell you what shop or establishment used to be at a given location in a city. Picture of the construction of one of my favorite NYC buildings below to get things rolling. (It used to be a townhouse.)

Happy Monday!
